A five-hour adventure to the world's largest rookery of the rare and elusive Agami Heron
Book NowThe Agami Heron Tour is a five-hour experience that takes you from Bijagua deep into the Caribbean lowlands to Agami Island — the world's largest rookery of the rare and stunningly beautiful Agami Heron.
We leave from Bijagua and bird the Caribbean lowlands on our way to the island. There are a lot of great species that we can see along the way: Snowy Cotinga, Striped Cuckoo, Rufescent Tiger-Heron, and Nicaraguan Seedfinches are all found along the road.
Agami Island is the world's largest rookery of the rare Agami Heron. First discovered in 2025, over 1,000 nesting birds visit the island every June through August. The island provides easy and close access to these birds, and the tour includes the entry fee to the nature reserve.
It's an incredible experience you will never forget.
