We hear White-throated Crakes (Laterallus albigularis) every day at Tapir Valley, but, like all crakes and rails, they aren't fans of being out in the open.
One early morning after a night of very heavy rain, the areas adjacent to the marsh were inundated with water and this crake was out and about in the open, foraging for worms and grubs. It was a real treat to get such excellent views of a tough bird.
